White House publishes a statement on Lady of Guadalupe Feast Day.
President Biden celebrated 200 years of relationship between Mexico and the United States on Monday. Mexico first became a country after gaining independence from Spain in 1821, and the United States established diplomatic relations with its neighbors. This bicentennial also falls on Mexico’s Feast Day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, which President Biden highlighted as “a holiday with deep religious and cultural significance.“
“Over the course of our shared history, Mexico and the United States have demonstrated that we are stronger and safer when we stand together,” President Biden stated. “And today – as we embark on the next century of our partnership with mutual respect and commitment to our shared aspirations – we remember that nothing is beyond our reach if we continue to work together.”
